A Death in the Family - This Microscopic War
Debut full length, produced by Frankie N.W. Stubbs, Melbourne Australia.
"Someone has definitely been listening to their Leatherface records. Busting out the whiskey-soaked vocals, aggressive instrumentation, and powerful drumming of the infamous UK punkers, these Australian gentlemen and woman up the melodies a little more with The Microscopic War, creating a sound not unlike Hot Water Music. The band really strike out on their own with tracks like the stellar "Falling Like the Plague,Δ where guitarist/vocalist Sarah moves the music in a truly unique direction with her softer, but equally impressive vocals. Likely, it is her vocals that will ultimately separate the band from the multitude of Leatherface sound-alikes, and while this record is hit or miss at times, the strongest moments shine with an impressively original sound that should bring the band success in our hemisphere sometime soon. "One of my favorites, a sonic masterpiece and in my 5 for that year. They should have been bigger than Arcade Fire. So good it's on sale because at least 5 of my friends should own this" -JDM
